This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is full of eager students who desperately want to experience the joy of sports and being on a team. Most have never been on an organized sports team until they come to tryouts at our school.

My school is full of some amazing students, who happen to be in the lower socio-economic class.

Most have never had the opportunity to play organized sports due to the cost of the leagues and the equipment. We always have a huge turnout to sports tryouts, due to our students being desperate for the competitive and social advantages that being part of a team can bring.

My Project

As the athletic director of my school, I am asking for a Microsoft Surface 3, volleyballs, basketballs, soccer balls, score books, ball pumps, and mesh jerseys. Our team will be able to use the Microsoft Surface 3 to video their home games and use the tape for learning and coaching purposes, create rosters, practice plans, and plays. Our student coaches and players would be able to have their own balls and equipment to practice and play with. They would not have to share with the PE department. This is an advantage for our students because they deserve the opportunity to have something special and reserved just for them. They will learn responsibility as they take care of the equipment. They will also learn the inner-workings of the game as they view tape, learn plays, keeps stats and score. Additionally, by having higher quality equipment, we can try to level the playing for our students as they compete against more affluent schools.

These donations will help my student athletes have the experience of being part of something bigger than themselves....a team.

Every year, our incoming 7th graders as ecstatic to be part of middle school and all it entails. Having a successful athletic department is part of this. your donations will help improve not just our athletic program, but the authenticity of the experience for our students.
