My students need a few cleaning gadgets/equipment such as a vacuum cleaner and a steam cleaner to get them started in learning the rudiments of good housekeeping.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Cinderella!!! That's what our students seem like when they do housekeeping training. Our class is without any electronic appliance that would aid our students in the 21st century housekeeping training that they are doing. Paper towels, brooms and a dust pan are all we have for this program.
Our school is one of the few Special Education Centers catering to students with moderate to severe disabilities here in California.
Our students are in the 7th-12th grade and are on the Autism Spectrum. They require authentic learning experiences they can generalize and transfer into the real world setting, i.e. activities of daily living like personal hygiene, dressing, food preparation, and housekeeping, to name a few. Our goal for our students is to get them engaged in activities that are and will be important and relevant to them for the rest of their lives.
My Project
Our class needs our own set of cleaning gadgets/equipment such as vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner (will serve as mop that disinfects). Currently we have 3 brooms, a dust pan and some paper towels as cleaning materials/equipment that we use for our Housekeeping 101. Acquiring our own set of housekeeping gadgets will make our program be more effective and efficient. This program will not only allow our students better access to the different subject matters as math, science, health and language arts but most importantly, this program will help them gain and improve their daily living and vocational skills.
Our Housekeeping 101 equips and empowers our students with the necessary skills for future employment possibilities in the area of housekeeping when the time comes for them to leave our school.
Because our students have very special needs, making them acquire daily living and vocational skills are essential part of their school life.
Our Housekeeping 101 provides them various sensory input and actual/real hands-on experience that is critical for all our students especially those on the Autism Spectrum.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
