Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students feel defeated. It is my job to raise the team morale and get them to enjoy learning again.
My students are all special education students across grades who are academically two or more years behind.
As their SETSS (Special Education Support Service) teacher, I work with all my students and help them develop remedial academic skills. When they come to my classroom, they enjoy being in small groups and look forward to using technology and games to learn the skills they cannot acquire in the classroom.
My Project
My students need Common Core aligned resources to be prepared for the state tests like reading comprehension activities, Math 4 Today workbooks, and a subscription to Time For Kids magazine. By having these resources in my classroom, students will have updated workbooks that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. By having these updated standard aligned books, my students will have the opportunity to get a feel of the complexity of the Common Core State Standards and develop experience so they do well on the state test.
The requested camera. will help students who struggle with writing. Students can take pictures and capture "moments" which they will use as visual cues and assist them with their writing. The recording feature will help students with reading, by recording students reading aloud, students can check their fluency and intonation. Students can also record readers theater and act out the books they have read.
As a new SETSS (Special Education Support Service) teacher, having updated and aligned resources will help my students in reading, writing, and math.
Having a camera will give students an opportunity to practice Common Core aligned activities, use pictures or videos to assist with writing and ultimately build their confidence and regain the enjoyment of learning and being in school.
