Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are avid readers. I try to provide everything from the classics to the most current reading material. They are always thrilled when a new box of books comes into the classroom. I'm always looking at yard sales, thrift shops, warehouse book sales, and online for the best deals.
The students in our school are hard workers.
They love reading, performing acts of kindness, and working to the best of their ability to make their learning experience worth their while. Our school is not only a place for learning, but for creating friendships, bringing families closer together, preparing students to be compassionate and hard-working citizens, and having fun. We strive to be better in all things we do and work hard to better our community.
My Project
The requested books are some of the top reading materials from the 2013-2014 school year and summer. As I stated earlier, I try to provide students with current reading materials. These are books that are fun, exciting, adventurous, and bring joy to the reader. I know these books will excite the most reluctant of readers and will bring a smile to each child's face.
Reading is the most active way to engage students in the classroom. A variety of genres can really make a classroom come alive. As Dr. Seuss stated, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go!"
Voracious reading means to read all the time, read in all places, read a variety of genres, and read different types of media (newspapers, magazines, books, advertisements, journals, recipes, directions, poems, closed captioning, blogs, etc).
I could go on forever.... Reading is all around us. We read in all content areas. When students and adults are proficient readers, they share their love of reading, and I want to see my students sharing this passion with one another and with their families.
