I have 21 adorable Kindergarteners in my class who love to sing and dance!
I have several students in my class who do not speak English as their primary language. Our school has one of the highest ELL populations in the state. We are also one of the largest schools in the state. Our school is a Title I school and services many low socio-economic families.
My Project
There is a lot that is expected of Kindergarteners these days. On top of learning their letters and sounds Kindergarteners are expected to learn to read. There is a lot of learning that needs to happen in a very short amount of time! I have already started incorporating some of Heidi's Sing and Spell songs in to our daily and weekly routines. The kids love the songs and have learned so much already from them. With these video my students and I will have access to all her fabulous learning songs and will be able to learn the motions that go with them as well.

Think about all the lyrics to all the songs that you know. I bet it is quite a bit! Now imagine if you applied those same catchy tunes to something educational. Learning could be limitless! My hope is that through the songs and motions provided through Heidi's Sing and Spell DVDs my students will become strong readers and writers.
