Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are discovering words and the sounds to pronounce them. This year we are doing our first Kindergarten Spelling Bee. How much fun will it be to be able to take a dictionary home and practice all the words that could be found in our spelling bee.

Our Title I school serves a very large Hispanic and poverty stricken area.

Fun ways to promote the correct English Language will benefit our students greatly. More and more statistics prove that if they study etymology, the rules of pronunciation and spelling when they step forward on the spelling bee stage, the functions of their memory simply come alive just like a buzzing bee!

My Project

What a fantastic resource it will be to have spelling bee backpacks that will rotate weekly from one family to another. Our students will have all the tools they need to get ready for reading, writing and spelling. Each bag will consist of a dictionary, spelling words, stories and writing prompts. There is also a bee costume, to promote "beeeeeinng great at spelling". One staff member will dress up and zip by the classrooms promoting reading, practicing spelling words and challenging the students to "Beeeeeee even beeeeetter at spelling!"

Our kindergartners will be ready to tackle spelling correctly for years to come!

Its a win-win situation! Help our generation have a skill that will earn them many benefits in life, spelling correctly, in preparation for the spelling bee.
