My Students
Some of my students do not have books in their homes to read, especially books on their reading level. This could be an amazing opportunity for them to have books on their level to read both at home and in the classroom.
As a Kindergarten teacher I have the pleasure of being the first teacher for many of my students.
Most of my students are English Language Learners. Their primary language is Spanish. By the end of the year students should be on at least a level 4 reading level.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be used to help improve the literacy skills of all students in my classroom as well as their homes. The activities will be used daily in small groups and centers. They will learn letters, sounds, sight words, and emergent reading behaviors. I envision students reading the leveled reading books in the classroom and taking them home to practice every night. I believe that it is essential for students to have books in their homes that they can actually read. This can help them meet their reading goals by the end of the year.

It is important that students have a strong foundation in Kindergarten so they are prepared for later skills they will learn in school.
