My students need science supplies (plant kit, map, tornado tube, thermometers, prisms, and project boards) for the coming school year. The items listed would help with hands-on activities in science for the whole school year.
This is my first year teaching and I want to make my science and math lessons really stay with my students. I love doing hand-on activities. The prisms will help the students understand how light is made and the grow kits will help the students see first hand how plants grow.
This is my first year teaching at my school.
It was constructed in 1968, is one of three public elementary schools in the area. Our school serves 620 students and currently houses the ESOL program for our district. The school pledge is:
I pledge today to do my best
in reading, math, and all the rest.
I promise to obey the rules,
in my class and in our school.
I'll respect myself and others too,
I'll expect the best in all I do.
I'm here to learn all I can,
to try my best and be all I can.
My Project
In fourth grade my students will learn about light and how white light is made up of colors, weather and weather patterns, plants and how they grow. With the resources listed, the students can better understand these concepts. The students will better understand that white light is made up of colors when they can actually see the rainbows through a prism and the water prism. The tornado tubes will help the students better understand how tornadoes are formed. The grow kits will help the students learn and see first hand how plants grow. The project boards will be for when my students learn about the scientific method and conduct their own science experiments and will use them to display their projects. The weather map and tornado tubes will be for when my students learn about different types of weather and weather patterns. The map will help them to see how weather patterns move and the tornado tubes will help them see how tornadoes are formed.
My project will make a difference by helping making a lasting impression on my students and maybe some of them will decided they too want to teach science in the future or become a scientist or astronaut, etc.
