This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Help to organize minds! Sixth and Seventh grade students are typically all over the place. With this in mind it is very important to teach them organization skills while they are in school. A folder with papers flying everywhere and missing homework is an everyday occurrence.
The students I teach are in an urban school where supplies often few and far between.
The students come with very few supplies, not because they don't want or need them, but simply they do not have the money to obtain the supplies necessary for school.
The sixth and seventh graders I teach are very eager to learn and these supplies will help them with their quest for knowledge.
My Project
The binders and colored paper would open up a world of organization for my students. Typically students have one folder and that is to organize seven classes. A binder in my classroom would allow them to have everything they could possibly need for science within the classroom, so no more lost assignments. The brightly colored paper will allow students to organize and color code all of their assignments. This level of organization would increase their ability to succeed within the classroom.
These materials would also allow for the students to create a portfolio where they would be able to easily see what learning objectives they have mastered. This will greatly increase student achievement within my classroom.
The binders and paper would allow my students to stay organized and it would increase their achievement within the classroom.
This type of organization though the creation of a portfolio would help them study and it would be something they could take with them throughout their learning career.
