My students need science materials, such as hands-on kits, circuits for electricity, and live plants to study in the classroom to help them understand science concepts.
Are you a kinesthetic learner? Do you remember how difficult it was to learn science concepts through books and worksheets? My students are struggling to understand science due to a lack of hands-on materials.
My students all have special needs and are placed in a self-contained classroom in a middle school building.
They attend a public school in a district that has limited funding sources for new materials. My students are hands-on learners, so these science materials are very important to their learning.
My Project
This is my first year teaching in a self-contained setting, which means I am teaching all subjects. I am teaching science for the first time. I have extremely limited resources available to me and my students at this time, which is why this project is of high importance to us. It would be wonderful to have these science materials readily available in my classroom for my students. They will be able to grasp the concepts they are learning with a higher level of understanding, and will be more interested in these topics, if we can use a hands-on approach.
Your donations to this project would certainly have a great impact on our lives in the classroom.
My students will be ecstatic when they find out they are going to be able to actually grow plants to study, build electrical circuits, look at x-rays of body parts, and explore the wonders of weather systems. They will love using their five senses to learn!
