Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Science is an integral part of learning. We need to make it a more important factor in everyday lessons and activities. These materials will help accomplish that in our classroom.
I work at Chicago Public School in a high-poverty area.
Our classroom is a blended Preschool classroom, meaning 12 out of our 40 students have special rights/needs. The children learn incredibly well through hands-on activities and we create lesson plans that coincide with these needs.
My Project
We will use these materials everyday in the classroom. The 3-D science viewer will coordinate with our life cycle studies and help the children connect what they are learning about with concrete examples. Our prisms will showcase rainbows on the wall leading to discussions about colors and color mixing. The sink and float kit will help the children to make predictions using inference and justified reasoning. All our magnet exploration will help the children to understand magnetized relationships through exciting activities. Finally, the privacy cube will serve as a quiet, secure space that will lend itself to exploring light and shadow.
Science is Making STEAM in all classrooms around the world, why not start in a blended Early Childhood classroom?
Help make a difference in our children's lives by allowing them to engage in hand's on science activities.
