Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
America STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education has seen an overall decline in student interest during the last two decades. STEM is a pivotal sector of our economy, and it is important that today's students become tomorrow's STEM leaders.
We are an active, compassionate and inquisitive second grade class in a Title I school, IB School.
We strive to be lifelong learners who are learning to understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. We are the only IB Elementary School in Central Florida. Although we are IB, we receive pubic school funding, no private funding. Our parents struggle to meet the basic needs of their families.
We are learning to be internationally-minded people who recognize their common humanity and share guardianship of the planet and to help to create a better and a more peaceful world.
My Project
From using static electricity to make objects move to experimenting with plant growth in a variety of conditions,ÃÂ my students will explore the science behind the world around them with Lakeshore's project-based STEM activities! Each book includes 8-12 different units that focus on important science concepts, complete with hands-on activities & experiments that will build critical-thinking, collaboration & problem-solving skills!
With the innovative Lakeshore STEM Science Stations, students will explore magnetism, motion and buoyancy as they complete hands-on experiments and engineering activities! Each station includes 8 cards that prompt students to perform simple experiments and comes with all the hands-on materials to complete each one. Plus, each station features an engineering activity to extend the learning conditions and build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills! Students will be able to complete these tasks in small and large groups.
Governor Rick Scott has pushed for statewide education reform that will improve the foundations of STEM education and inspire students to pursue STEM careers.
These engaging STEM materials from Lakeshore will assist me in providing a comprehensive program that will offer my students an engaging, interactive and hands-on approach to the STEM industry. Please help me cultivate their desire to pursue a career in STEM by funding this projecting and providing these materials and supplies.
