Sailing the Waves into a Good Book

My students need 40 children's books to read during our silent sustain reading to help increase our reading goal.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to just fall into a good book and get lost in the words? Well, my student's are not able to fall into a good book because our books are worn down and torn. If given this opportunity, I know they would get lost in the words, and enjoy reading.

My class if full of personality and individuality, with sixteen girls and twelve boys.

We have spirited conversations about various things, especially about things we read. My group loves to read, try new things and explore things they discover further while reading. The public school's population is African-American and it is reflected within my classroom.

Resource books Enhance reading skills Book club Build classroom library Improve reading skills & test scores Create a reading group 1 on 1 teaching strategies Students will learn the benefit of reading and become avid readers Books! Yes, book are all we need to sail the waves into a good book to inspire more reading and improve reading skills. Introducing reading in a way that inspires and can change students' lives for the better though improving their skills and encouraging conversation. By establishing a book club, my students can share their thoughts; learn more about themselves and each other. Improving and enhancing their reading skills through active involvement will lead to improve test scores.

The books donation will make an enormous difference in my classroom that lacks them.

They will provide my class with much needed tools to be successful in my classroom and beyond. Reading is fundamental for all areas of learning and requires the upmost attention. These books will allow my students to improve their skills and ultimately improve their learning and their lives.
