Christa McAuliffe said, "I touch the future. I teach." True hearted educators believe this! We know the children are our future & we have to prepare them. Preparation comes in different forms. One is preparing them for our digital world. To prepare our children, technology is a must in schools now.
My current school is a Pre K-5th grade school in which parental support is wonderful.
Our school has almost 550 students at this time. My students are eager to learn. All of our teachers are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms. My goal is to continue learning more about technology integration with an ActivSlate. In a nutshell, I know that with bringing an ActivSlate to my students, I can help lead students toward a better tomorrow. What is an ActivSlate? An activslate is a smart slate that works with the Promethean smart board. It is for use while away from the smart board instead of writing directly on the board. It is very useful tool in class. The tablet goes to the student instead of the student going to the board.
My Project
Our school has been fortunate enough to receive Promethean Boards for all of our classrooms. However, we did not receive funding for ActivSlates and accessories I would love for my class to have one. It is basically a wireless tablet that offers the same interactive function as a Promethean Board, but has the advantage of freedom of movement. As a wireless tablet, it would allow me to leave my Promethean Board more. I could bring the slate to students to work with the Activinspire software and lessons. The tablet and pen would allow students to work out or answer problems interactively on the tablet for the whole class to see. As a dedicated educator with a focus on bringing technology and curriculum together, I realize how vital it is in recognizing individual student needs. It can lead me in terms of "Empowering Students through Art!" I already have ideas how to use it. I just need some to help get an ActivSlate into my classroom now for my students.
Without a doubt, more powerful technology resources are on the horizon annually.
An ActivSlate used with a Promethean Board is one of those. Teachers use them to integrate lessons with the freedom of movement. I know with an ActivSlate, we could work effectively on technology lessons. More often than not, additional money is not available for the extra technology accessories and tools. I am asking your help to bring an ActivSlate and accessories to my 3rd grade classroom.
