My Students

The junior high students are full S.T.E.A.M. ahead and off to a great start this school year!

I have never seen so much excitement for learning in my 10 years of teaching.

They are so excited to get their hands on all of the new equipment in the S.T.E.A.M. lab. The students are showing so much interest in programming and inventing. Also, because of the student choice built into the curriculum they are so engaged in the goals they set for each project. They are becoming independent learners using real world skills that are very important for their futures.

My Project

Our STEAM lab is brand new and we are always looking for more hands on learning engagements for the students. We currently have a Sphero and a Makey Makey in the classroom, but the students asked," What if we had another?" "Could we create a obstacle course for two and program them to race each other?" There is also so much interest in the Makey Makey that having two more will allow more students further explore the invention kit to create their own remote or instrument. We are also asking for the iPad Air because that is what is needed to control the Sphero. The iPad will also allow students to take pictures and record videos to capture their learning journeys.

These donations will help the students collaborate in teams, create, invent, explore, and inspire.

In our lab we are trying to get the students to experience and understand multiple types of devices and technology tools. These items will ensure that each my students have the full S.T.E.A.M. experience.
