Philip Green stated "Good, bad or indifferent, if you are not investing in new technology, you are going to be left behind." I agree 100%. I don't want to be left behind! I'd love to gain a mobile laptop to later assist with my lessons. But first, I would have to stop & learn more about this tool.
Our Pre K-5th grade school is an elementary school.
We have 535 students here. I am a 2nd grade teacher who has taught other grade levels in the past before settling in 2nd grade. The children truly embrace technology at our school. I am interested a mobile laptop that offers mobility in moving in my classroom. So, I spoke with our technology leader at my school for help. As a teacher who has an avid interest in classroom technology, I have seen changes in how schools incorporate different technology resources. I want to learn more. With my mentor, I'd sit & learn more about this mobile Windows 8 tool. With me as the student again, we agreed to meet to learn about the physical aspects of this tool. How to use it as a learning tool for myself would be my 1st professional development stage. Then during my other PD sessions, I'd strive to learn about its uses for project based learning with my students. But first, I need to become the student & learn more! I am ready for this!
My Project
My plans are in place & I am ready to learn! As a "born again student" for this grant, my plan is to work with my tech mentor & become a student again for this project. My plans then lie with students using it later for project-based learning activities. I spoke with our school's technology leader & my plan of action is set. I need to learn more about Windows 8 & more about project-based learning with this mobile laptop. My tech specialist and I will meet for 3 sessions (1 to 1 or in groups). You can view my Professional Development plans for her guide me with the Windows 8 laptop & the plan of action. Step 1 of my PD path would be to learn more about this Windows 8 mobile tool. After learning the physical aspects of this tool, the 2nd goal would offer effective project-based learning activities for my students using this Windows 8 mobile laptop. Links for project-based lessons are included in the plan above.
Educators know all too well how essential technology has become in classrooms.
I completely agree with Philip Green's statement, "Good, bad or indifferent, if you are not investing in new technology, you are going to be left behind." I want to continue learning! To gain this tool, I will continue learning more about this new mobile resource & more about project based learning to later guide my students. Would you please consider helping me with this project? Ready, Set, Let's Learn!
