Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year, my students wait for that magical moment when they see their rockets launch. Their faces light up and their pride grows exponentially. They watch their masterpiece take off and fly away. This laboratory experience not only help them academically, it does much more.
My students belong to a low-income community in Houston, Texas.
They are amazing children who's parents work really hard at make their lives a little easier. My students love creating and working together. They find a way to make everyday experience a remarkable experience.
My Project
I am requesting duck tape, paper, markers and glue. All the materials will be used during our Space unit. After giving various examples of space exploration vehicles and jet propulsion, the students will have the opportunity to build a rocket demonstrating their creativity and engineering skills. They will then evaluate the results and complete a laboratory report about this experience.
This projects gives my student an opportunity to design, build and launch their own rockets.
This opportunity also allows them to feel pride on what they can do, it is also an opportunity to enhance and showcase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum in the classroom.
