This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are excited to come to school each day. They get here early and want to stay late. School is a welcoming experience for all.

My students are enthusiastic about school.

They come to school with a hunger to learn. Many students have led a very sheltered life, never venturing beyond their hometown. Our school is slowly acquiring new technology to help the students experience life outside the classroom. In general, our school is considered a high poverty school, with most students receiving free and reduced lunch. I want my kids to experience all that life has to offer.

My Project

Since Illinois has changed objectives to the Common Core objectives, students must complete more nonfiction reading activities. Many materials I already have are fiction. I want my students to read the Scholastic News to not only gain more nonfiction reading habits but to also learn about current news and world events. This is a great supplemental resource for my class.

Your donation will help my students learn about the world outside of their own community.

It will allow them to explore new places from the comfort of our classroom. Reading is fundamental in success. Your donation will help my students succeed not only in school but in life as well! Thank you for your assistance.
