My Students

All students should have resources to read books that they enjoy. I have tried very hard over the last 10 years to keep my classroom library up to date, but it is still lacking. With the Kindle, students will have many more options for fiction and nonfiction stories.

I teach a first and second grade class and that is the plan for next year.

Currently, I have a wonderful group of students who are interested in a variety of topics and love to read. When a student finishes work early they often choose to read and continue to be engaged in what they are reading until it is time for the next task.

My Project

With the new Common Core standards coming out it is going to be very important to have nonfiction resources for the students to read. With the Kindles, I will be able to purchase a program that allows the children to read a variety of books. I am hoping to have a set of Kindles so they can be used independently or in a small reading group. Students will be excited to have the power to choose what they read on the tablet. This is very powerful when trying to help students learn to read and to encourage the love of reading.

Having Kindles in the classroom will help me, as a teacher, because students will be able to explore a variety of stories.

The Kindles will be motivators for students to read since they are new technology in the classroom. Thank you for your consideration.
