Reading Nook

My students need 3 bookshelves to display the large variety of multilevel books as well as 5 bean bag chairs to enjoy them in.

My Students

Reading opens the mind, heart, and soul. My kids have a multitude of worlds at their fingertips! Dr. Seuss said it best, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

I currently have 28 students in my 5th grade classroom.

There is a diverse range of abilities and personalities, each deserving the opportunity to grab a book off the shelf that suits their needs. My students are eager readers that pick up books any free minute of the day. They are currently sitting on the floor when they need a break from their regular routine of desk work. Our school is a Title I school with 68% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch in Montana. We have a wonderful and caring staff that is willing to go to any length to help our students achieve success.

My Project

Roald Dahl said, "So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away. And in its place you can install, a lovely bookshelf on the wall." I am asking for three bookshelves to display the books I have collected over the years. I am also requesting five sports themed bean bag chairs, three basketballs and two soccerballs, for the student reading nook. These materials will help to create a comfortable place where students can grab a book off of the shelf and explore new worlds in comfort. It will give reluctant readers an incentive to pick up a book and start reading!

With your donations, my classroom will have a reading nook for students to enjoy on a daily basis.

They will be exposed to a treasure trove of knowledge, excitement, and wonder. My students can cozy up with any book that piques their interest!
