Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a low-income, ethnically diverse school. Many students qualify for free lunch and breakfast. It is necessary that the first standard I value in my classroom is safety, support, and structure. As a teacher, I have to expand my creative growth by creating hands-on lesson plans that engage young minds but do not hurt the tight budget.
The students of this school have become my passion; I strive to bring experiences to children who lack prior-knowledge but deserve the same opportunities.
Every child deserves a wonderful education regardless of socioeconomic status. I want to help these children succeed!
My Project
A book display is a wonderful addition to a classroom library. It is used to showcase a multitude of books throughout the school year. It helps to engage readers by displaying all different types of books. When a new unit of study approaches, books that relate get displayed on the shelves. Sometimes Dr. Seuss books are displayed for his birthday week or books for different holidays are put out.
Even struggling readers and students who find reading boring can be drawn in with a book display.
Students love to walk in on a Monday and see a whole new set of books. Reading is a powerful hobby to love. I want all of my students to be passionate, active readers!
