My Students
We need reading centers to using during our Reader's Workshop. We have games/activity that teach sight words, letters, and other phonics/phonemic awareness concepts in isolation but we need centers that can teach these concepts through familiar books and engaging activities!
The first graders in my class are energetic and ready learn!
There isn't a day that goes by that an "ah ha" moment doesn't happen! They are so excited to learn about the world around them and how they are connected to what we are learning about in the classroom. They are a group of students who love books; as a class they have read almost two million words with AR books!
My Project
My students love working together in centers. As a teacher I want them to take the lead in their learning while I support them and facilitate them in their endeavors! The literacy centers we are requesting will allow them to put their knowledge to use with quality literature not just a game or a worksheet! The centers also come with books and a classroom can never have too many books for children to read!
Having these centers will make such a difference during our Reader's Workshop activities.
Due to the size of our class we can have groups of more than 4 children. It will also put additional books in our room which we can use during our "small group" time. Then the students can follow up what was done in small group with the literacy center activities!
