Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have students from a variety of backgrounds, who are in a variety of places in life. In my classes I have English Language Learners, military family members, Advanced Placement, Special Education, and IB students, many are the sole supporter of their families. Money should not limit education.

My students come from economically, disadvantaged homes.

Many of them have a hard time getting the pens, pencils, and paper that they need for school. There are many hurdles they have to jump through due to their economical problems. The students can be a little tough, but beneath this exterior are kids who just need that added push to excel. Without the supplies students are behind the curve and feel as if they never get caught up. This really does have an impact on their self esteem. They don't feel as if they have the same opportunities as those who have supplies.

My Project

Many of my students have a difficult time purchasing the normal school supplies. It is difficult to ask them to purchase supplies that don't normally go on sale and our more expensive. They have enough hurdles to jump through, providing them with some of the basic supplies such as canary colored paper and craft supplies such as paper and markers for projects allows them to have less hurdles to face in order to have a productive time in the classroom. These students need to be able to participate in class activities without the fear of finances.

Using the dry erase board during class is essential.

Students use it daily. They learn what will be happening in class for the day, they get vital information, and they use it during lessons to interact with each other and the instructor. Without the supplies to use and upkeep the white boards and essential part of the daily lesson and strategy will become unusable.
