Teacher professional development: I need a Windows 8 laptop for professional development courses. In turn, I will use it with students later. <profdevpilot>
Christa McAuliffe said, "I touch the future. I teach." True hearted educators believe this! We know the children are our future & we have to prepare them. Preparation comes in different forms. One is preparing them for our digital world. To prepare our children, Teachers have to continue learning!
I am currently a 3rd grade teacher and have been for several years.
My current school is a Pre K-5th grade school in which parental support is wonderful. Our school has almost 550 students at this time. My students are eager to learn. All of our teachers are active in utilizing technology in our classrooms. My goal is to continue learning more about technology integration and the Windows 8 system. With that said, the next step for me would be learning about Windows 8 and project based learning, but before I cross that bridge, I need to learn more about this powerful resource. As I become the student in this unique journey, I know I will in turn bring more effective project based lessons into my classroom and to my students with a Window 8 laptop. For now though, I need to work on my proposed lesson plan and become a student. In a nutshell, I know that in learning more about Windows 8 formatting as a student, I can help lead students toward a better tomorrow.
My Project
In speaking with my tech leader, she recommended professional development articles & tutorials that would guide my learning path. My personal plan of action in terms of Professional Development includes meeting with my technology leader individually or with small groups. The lesson plan for my personalized learning path includes meeting for 3 sessions to help me understand the power of Window 8 and project based lessons. You can view our Professional Development lesson plan @ http://www.vrml.k12.la.us/dozier/eye/profdevsessions/ProfDevelopmentW8.pdf. With the use of the requested Windows 8 laptop in this grant, my tech teacher will guide me on a path to help not only me, but later my students. Our plan has me with striving for 2 steps. Goal 1 includes learning the hardware and the navigation of Windows 8. After learning the physical components of this tool, the 2nd goal would offer effective project-based learning activities for my students using this Windows 8 machine later.
As Christa McAuliffe said, "I touch the future.
I teach." So do I! With this grant, you can help me take a new step & strive harder to accomplish my new goals. With the help of this Windows 8 laptop & project based lessons, I know I will strive to move forward with new knowledge, as both a student and teacher. As a student, I'll continue striving to learn as much as I can. As a teacher, I want to continue touching our future! Will you consider reaching out to help me "touch the future?"
