My Students
Do you know how the world is always at your fingertips? What would you do without your smartphone or tablet? My students need that access too!
I teach 7th and 8th grade Language Arts/Social Studies at a K-8 school with an at risk population.
We qualify for Title I funding, but do not receive any. That means money is extremely tight, and electronic items cannot often be purchased. We never have enough access to technology, even on the outdated computers in the school. Many of the students do not have Internet at home and need to gain tech knowledge here at school.
My Project
The donation of 25 tablets would allow my students immediate access to a plethora of curriculum based information: web-quests, articles, short stories, etc. They would also be able to create products in a multitude of ways. Having a tablet to share between two students would teach them a variety of teamwork skills as well.
I know that the impact on my teaching and the learning of my students would be significant.
It would allow me more venues to use in instruction, and the students a wider variety of learning opportunities.
