My Students

"Math has a lot of negative stereotypes, but it can actually be fun and incredibly empowering. -Danica McKellar" I love to see my students having fun in math with project based learning. By providing access to technology, this will allow me to help my students reach 21st Century success!

I teach my fifth and sixth grade students mathematics.

Our school has a very encouraging and supportive learning environment. They each have their individual goals and dreams. Many of our students come from low-income based housing. Each student in my classroom has their own style of learning and being. My students are highly motivated to use technology but the limited technology at our school holds them back. I am also fortunate enough to work in a BYOD district (Bring Your Own Device), but a few cannot and need materials in order to participate. As a BYOD district, students are able to use technology to enhance their learning. Not only is this a way to get the students motivated and excited to learn, it is also a great way to introduce them to data based applications and resources. This will help to prepare our 21st century learners for the real-world where they will be surrounded by technology.

My Project

Through the use of this iPad, students will be able to access and utilize research based applications and resources that will improve both their math and language arts skills. I plan on teaching with skills rotations where students use their technology to practice these skills through an application that works on both math and the integration of language arts. I want to be able to offer this to all my students, not just the students who are fortunate enough to have their own technology that they brought from home. Students will also be able to use Google Drive to store assignments and projects. The Google Drive application will allow students to remain organized and will allow us to share our projects. They will also have access to many district-wide used applications.

This iPad will make a phenomenal difference for my students whose families cannot afford technology or Internet access.

It will allow them to get the individualized education that they deserve. I strive to equip and prepare my students for their bright futures. This iPad will help my students on their pathway to becoming 21st century thinkers and leaders!
