My students need 6 laptops to fully integrate all of the great programs they have online accounts for. This will allow them to work at their own level.

My Students

Our classroom is composed of many different types of students who work at all different levels. I want all my students to experience growth from where they begin the year. One challenge we have is utilizing all of the great online resources we have subscriptions to due to the limited computers.

Our students attend a technology enhanced school.

We are composed of a very unique group of students. These students want to achieve their best in everything they do. We strive to always to have a "can do attitude." Right now, we have 5 desktop computers in our room, and 25 students. It is very inefficient to try to rotate 25 students onto the computers, and still get them an adequate amount of time.

My Project

I will be able to have about half my students on a computer at a time with the 6 new laptops. Students will be able to visit the online math curriculum we have at our school to view tutorials on current, and past, lessons to get more instruction and more practice on skills. They will also be able to research for papers, or just when they have a topic they want to know more about as they are reading. Students will also be able to work on individualized skills using on of our online programs that will work with them on their language skills, math skills, and reading skills. All of these opportunities will help them grow academically and experience more self confidence. Having more experience typing and using the computer to compose answers will also help them be prepared for their Smarter Balance Assessment test at the end of the year.

My students will be better equipped in life and in knowledge by getting assistance.

Some students do not have Internet/computer access at home. Those students will be able to become comfortable using technology because we will have more access to it in our classroom.
