This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is full of aspiring young orchestral students! Last year our orchestra was extremely successful and now everyone wants to be a part of it! I currently have over 80 students enrolled in orchestra and only 45 instruments. I really need more instruments.

Most of our parents cannot afford instruments.

Last year, we had over fifty students in our orchestra. Rehearsals occurred three times per week during school hours and twice a week after school. Orchestra is offered as an elective now for grades 4 through 7 and is part of the school day. I had to turn some students away because there are not enough instruments. I would like to include everyone but can not. This is sad because this is the hardest working group of orchestra students that I have ever had! I really need to provide instruments for them and need your help! My students are great to with and absolutely amazing! They are so positive and always try their best. I really hope to provide all the materials that they need to truly be successful!

My Project

The students will rehearse three times a week during school hours. Additionally, they will be attending two music competitions this year. It is my goal for them to also perform locally throughout the school year. They will play at least three school concerts this year too. Most the students can already read music but our new students will also learn to read this year. This will be very difficult if the students have to share instruments. Also, all of my kindergarten through seventh grade students will use the bell kits during music class this year. Therefore, this equipment will be used for many students for many years. Additionally, our students are also going to be able to play in orchestra all the way through high school. That means that your donation will truly shape my students growth for many years.

Students cannot develop quickly sharing an instrument. Could you imagine being new to music and not being able to take your instrument home to practice because you have to share it with someone else. You can help my students achieve greatness by helping me to provide an instrument for them to play and practice as much as they would like.
