My Students

Coach Hines's Physical Education class is done The Pike Road Way. Students learn about health and wellness by participating in meaningful physical activities and exploring possible solutions to public health problems. Students are engaged and active throughout the day!

Just like learning can occur anywhere, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a constant endeavor among Pike Road Patriots.

Pike Road students are inquisitive and innovative. Pike Road Patriots take ownership of their learning. Pike Road Patriots aim to solve the world's problems on a daily basis.

My Project

Pike Road Patriots will use pedometers to make physical activity come alive! When physical activity is presented as a number, it is more meaningful. This will help students learn about goal-setting, create physical activity plans, and integrate step count data into other projects.

The biggest difference pedometers will make is that students will start to internalize their physical activity level, therefore motivating them to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.

Secondly, capturing real data will help teachers, parents, and shareholders see the value of physical activity within a project based learning framework.
