This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students never stop amazing me! They are constantly wanting to learn more about every unit. We type up science journals, perform hands-on experiments, try new Google Apps, while continuing to master science content. I can't wait to spruce up the spring semester with these specimens!

The students in this city face a lot of challenges.

Many will face hunger, gang relation, single parent households, and poverty. The way they come to class every single day and continue to smile amazes me! They are dedicated students who work hard for their education. I genuinely admire their tenacity, which is why I absolutely love teaching here. My school is underfunded, when it comes to science resources. I am constantly spending money trying to plan fun labs, and I need a little help with the dissection materials. It will be a great day!

My Project

The owl pellets will help my students achieve an understanding of food webs when we get to our ecology unit. Students will also be able to think back to anatomy when dissecting pig hearts and sheep brain. What a cool experience! I want them to really remember their 7th grade science class and this will help them understand that we aren't the only organisms out there! This will help as a transition to Biodiversity where we can read and study about animal ethics.

This project will completely change my student's attitude towards the spring semester!

Not only will they have something to look forward to, it will keep them engaged as we learn about science content. My students will be also be able to integrate the camera's on their Chromebooks to take pictures to turn into a Google presentation to really remember the content and special day. They can even put it to music and post to social media. Students will definitely be smiling, if we get this project!
