Mrs. Terry from Saint Louis MO is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 10 scientific calculators to learn how to input math problems in these devices, check their answers, and be able to know how to properly use these tools.

My students are inspirational. As a teacher, I thought that I would be the one who would inspire and impact my students, but they have inspired me. Their favorite subject is math, and even though they have a limited amount of materials, they always find creative ways to enjoy doing their work.
My fifth grade class is filled with a variety of students from different backgrounds.
They are becoming bilingual in the Spanish language at an immersion school that they attend in Missouri. I think my students are like all of the different countries in the world joined together. Though they are different, this matter is not important to them. They are respectful, open-minded young individuals who are willing to make a difference in this world. My students enjoy learning about different cultures and are always looking for a challenge. There is nothing my students can not do because they do not like to give up. I call my students my little risk takers.
These calculators will not only allow my students to challenge themselves, but they will now have a visual understanding of the math concepts that they are learning. Also, next year they will be in middle school, and they need to learn how to input information in a calculator. My students are growing everyday and are learning that they can not continue to count on their fingers or make lines on a separate sheet of paper because the math problems are becoming complex. I will develop activities to show my students how to use the different tools on the calculator. Also, next month's lessons will cover angles and geometry functions, and my students need calculators for these topics. We will do group exercises and activities to learn how to check math problems on the scientific calculators.
Math is a subject in which the majority of American students are sadly losing.
To have a class full of students who claim math as their favorite subject is nothing short of amazing. In order to facilitate future growth and increased mathematical investigation, my students need calculators. We cannot fund these by ourselves, but through the help of generous and caring donors, we can further not only their love for math, but for technological exploration in general.
