My Students

The greatest challenge facing our students in urban America is the lack of technology in every classroom. I am committed to seeing the reverse of these effects.

All of my high school students live in the inner city.

They are young African-American men and women who are learning about the French-speaking world for the first time. Recently, my students had to create a travel brochure of a french-speaking country using Microsoft Publisher but due to the limited access of technology at our school many of them could not finish their project.

My Project

Having a LCD projector will help provide students visual access to enlarged prints of materials such as maps, quizzes, and even textbook pages which would also decrease paper consumption. Owning a LCD projector in the class will allow them to share french-speaking videos and tutorial websites, give presentations, and listen to news reports. This devices will bring a whole new life to learning.

This project is important to me because I understand the importance of education.

I worked in grass root education as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa and I understand how students want to feel as they walk into a classroom. They want to feel that they are being equipped to succeed even before the day's lesson begin.
