This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Half of running a strong classroom is staying organized, but that's hard to do when you have almost no storage space! Next year, I hope to get my classroom spic-and-span with new shelves and storage spaces to make our math lab neat and easy to navigate!

I teach math in a Title I school that serves students in a very rural area of the country.

My students are eager to learn and engage in mathematical thinking, especially in hands-on, inquiry-based activities. However, these activities often involve a lot of materials like protractors, compasses, rulers, scissors, and more, and materials take space!

My Project

Shelves and storage containers will help us keep all of our materials organized and easy to find. This will make running an inquiry-based classroom much easier. It will also help me set a good example for my students when it comes to staying organized.

Having a tidy, organized classroom will help set the tone for my class.

An organized classroom will help inquiry-based activities run more smoothly for me and my students, who have grown to love the kind of hands-on approach we take to math in my classroom. It will truly improve our classroom!
