My students need two Soprano Xylophones and two Alto Xylophones because my current instrumentation doesn't allow for all students to play, even when sharing instruments.

My Students

One of the National Standards of Music is that students must "Perform on instruments, alone and with others." My current instrumentation does not allow for all students in each class to play alone or even with others.

I have great kids.

I have goofballs. I have shy students. I have students who want to become astronauts, journalists, doctors, athletes, and much more! The one thing all these students have in common is that they are all excited to come to music each week! My school encourages my students to become involved in the arts. However, they cannot finance the needs of the music program due to years of budget cuts, despite the fact they understand the importance of the arts at such a young age.

My Project

When students come to music class once a week, they can expect a little bit of composer history, music listening, singing, playing instruments, improvising, composing, theory, and movement. Students in my class are constantly learning new songs and learning new instruments parts to go with them in order to help them succeed as young musicians. In order to get all students to participate in these activities, adding more Orff instruments in the classroom is a must! My students need two Soprano Xylophones and two Alto Xylophones. With the addition of these instruments, more students will be able to experience the music in an authentic setting while playing with their peers.

New instruments in the classroom will enable the students to experience music in a group setting.

They will be able to make music with their friends and classmates and experience success as musicians. This will encourage them to continue with music in middle and high school and beyond. It will enable the students to become independent musicians who strive to make beautiful music.
