This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Music is noise that thinks"-Unknown
The past three years, my students have had music class with no instruments. Though we have learned many songs and choral technique with some tambourines, the majority of my students have not had the opportunity to play a tuned instrument.
Our students attend a public charter school that is close to 56% free and reduced lunch.
They come from many areas of our large city and are eager learners. They all enjoy singing and performing their songs from music class for their families and our Winter Concert every year. This year we will have a special Music Celebration Concert as well.
My Project
These glockenspiels, metallophones and xylophones will make music more interactive and personal for the students. They will be able to play songs they learn on an instrument as well as sing! With the addition of these instruments to music class, we will be able to learn more music theory, scales and how to be a part of an orchestra (of xylophones!)
Your donations to this project will provide an entire classroom set of instruments.
Each student will get the chance every music class to play instruments and learn more about music. This will hopefully inspire them to make music a life long pursuit. It is my dream that every single one of my students learns the joy of playing a musical instrument. The Orff glockenspiels, metallophones and xylophones are a huge step to beginning to play other instruments!
