Once upon a time, there was a Kindergarten teacher who wished for a document camera. However, there were no funds readily available for her wish. As an educator, I know I could utilize a document camera to bring my lessons to life, but first, this teacher needs to step back & learn about it!
I teach Kindergarten at a wonderful Pre K-5th feeder school with 544 students.
The parental support is very important to our families in the community. Our school is blessed to have wonderful teachers, leaders and of course, the best students! We are a school that believes in technology integration and we work hard every year to gain more technology resources for our students in the classroom! I have a personal goal to learn how to work with a document camera. I would love to have one to use with my eager students eventually. I know to do this, I need to back step a bit and be the student once again. I am more than willing to do that because, in the long run, I know that not only I will benefit from this, but my students will too.
My Project
I love using technology in the classroom. In speaking with my tech leader, she recommended professional development articles & tutorials that would guide my learning path. My personal plan of action in terms of Professional Development includes meeting with my technology leader individually or with small groups. The lesson plan for my personalized learning path includes meeting for 3 sessions to help me understand the document camera and its powerful uses with Kindergarten based lessons. Our Professional Development lesson plan have been set up. With the use of the requested the document camera in this grant, my tech teacher will guide me on a path to help not only me, but later my students. Our plan has me with striving for 2 steps. Goal 1 includes learning the hardware and the navigation of the document camera. After learning the physical components of this tool, the 2nd goal would mesh effective Kindergarten learning activities for my students using the document camera.
