My students need the alternative energy examples available in an educational kit in order to help them create 3-dimensional models of their own to show their application of our science TEKS in Texas.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Can we be the green change needed in today's world? Yes we can! My students want to be the green change to create real world models of clean or alternative energy sources. We want to the change needed to protect or conserve our natural resources. And, maybe they'll grow up to be the next innovators.
I teach in Texas to a bright bunch of 5th graders.
I teach a regular education math and science class as well as English as a Second Language math and science class. Our school is in an urban area. We are a Title I school and have about 86% free or reduced lunch.
My Project
They are eager to learn new things and they learn best with hands-on activities. This is why I want these life-like models to help motivate them in creating their own. I encourage research and the scientific method to investigate new and innovative ideas through technology and other sources. My students will learn what it takes to preserve our environment for them because they are the future.
Knowing that my student's ideas can come alive so that they will believe in what I'm teaching them as it concerns natural resources would be very beneficial.
I know that it will give them a sense of pride knowing that they have created something on their own based on their experiences in class. They may even want to grow up and become engineers to really impact their lives and the lives of others.
