Steve Jobs stated, "It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world - it is going to be a game changer!" As a teacher, I could not agree more. iPads can set an amazing tone for technology in the classroom. Whether connected to a projector or used in centers, my class would enjoy having one!
I have been in the classroom for more than 20 years now, most of which, are at the PreK-Fifth grade school where I now work.
We have over 500 wonderful students at this time and we have awesome parental support in our community. I currently teach all subjects in First grade. We are a school that has worked hard to gain technology and hope we can continue move forward with technology integration in our classrooms!
My Project
With the use of a classroom iPad mini 3, I know my students could work in an independent iPad center to assist with all subjects. My main focus, however, would be with reading and math. I know I could use our school iPad web page to readily find powerful reading and math apps to help with learning, as well as to help lessen gaps in specific subject areas. Many of those apps are FREE reading interactive eBooks which I know my students would love.(Even more so for those who do not have iPads at home.) As far as apps go, there are so many that would help my First graders with reading, phonics and math in general, and of course, with math facts. My agenda would also include combining technology resources for our students to be productive. I can also connect it to my interactive whiteboard to offer whole class experiences. I also plan to use the camera and creative writing apps. The kids will love that. Can you please help bring this "game changer" to my classroom?
