My Students

Technology affects our classrooms daily. It has become a must in schools. With this grant, I could learn more about Windows 8 and implementing project based learning for my students. Yes, I can be the student again through this awesome opportunity! I'd definitely love the chance!

I have been in the classroom for almost two decades, most of which, are at the Pre K-5th grade school where I now work.

We have over 500 wonderful students at this time and we have awesome parental support in our community. I currently teach all subjects in 1st grade. We are a school that has worked hard to gain technology and hope we can continue move forward with technology integration in our classrooms! As a school, we don't have many Windows 8 computers. Like others at my school, I want to strive to learn more about this new Windows 8 system. I would love to have one to use with my eager students later on down the line. I know to accomplish this though, I need to back step a bit and be the student once again. I am more than willing to do what it takes. There is no doubt, that having a new Windows 8 laptop would eventually benefit me as a teacher and, of course, my students as well.

My Project

At this time, my school doesn't have many Windows 8 computers, so I met with our tech leader to see if I gained one if she could help me. At that time, she and I set up a plan of action for my own professional development path. This would include meeting 1 to 1 or with a group to help me learn more about the Windows 8 system. The plan for my educational journey would mean meeting for three meetings to help me understand Windows 8 and how to implement it later on. Through the use of the requested laptop, I will be guided on my learning path. Our plan includes working for two goals. Goal one includes Windows 8 lessons for me to learn more about this system, while the next goal lies with me learning about project based learning for my students after. Before I get to goal two, though, I have to learn about Windows 8 and be a student. Oh yes, I know I can be the student again with this grant!

Technology is a must in the classrooms today.

Often though money restraints and ever changing operating systems can be obstacles. The ongoing cycle of learning is critical for successful educators today. I am more than willing to learn about Windows 8 and project based lessons. I know as a student, I can move forward to eventually help my 1st grade students. But first, I will become the one who needs to learn. Will you help me become a student again for this rare technology journey?
