I have a class of high energy and eager to learn students. Throughout our day, we learn with hands-on materials during play and small group lessons. I want my students to have hands-on experience through technology as well. "Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much." Helen Keller
Every morning I am greeted with 20 smiling and anxious students between the ages of 4 and 5 years old.
We are a public school full day Pre K, in collaboration with Head Start. Acceptance to our school is based on low income eligibility. All students receive free breakfast, lunch and snack. Many of my students come from homes of single parents, other family members raising them or they are in foster care. My students love coming to school and being able to express themselves while learning through play. With the world developing at a fast pace through technology, I would like to see my students have a jump start with access to more technology than what is currently available to them in our classroom.
My Project
In our school of 9 classrooms and 180 students, we have to share one interactive white board located in the library. Because of our schedules, not much time is available to use the white board effectively. If I had a Now!Board students would have access and interaction on a daily basis all throughout the day. It would be utilized in almost all of our subjects area and routines. For example; during our movement and music part of the day, students would be able to move along with video clips, choose more music and even play musical games on the board. My students would be able to gain more social skills through sharing and taking turns with the board. There are countless ways to use the board with math, language arts and science. Students will get the opportunity to explore more learning styles not only visually and auditory but kinetically, logically, socially and work independently if desired.
Our classroom currently lacks in technology.
There are no computers or tablets for the students. Having this Now!Board and projector will enhance my classroom by giving me the opportunity to have students connected with technology. I will be able to use the Now! Board by hooking up to my computer and use different games or learning websites for my students. Students lives will be enriched by using this technology daily.
