This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Our school is a 4th-8th middle school in rural Virginia.
Previously, the yearbook was developed by teachers. This year, we would like to start a student run Yearbook Club. This club will provide students an opportunity to develop their interest in photography. However, in the past we've been forced to use our phones and our own personal cheap digital cameras. As you might have guessed, this did not allow us to create high quality images (especially in the gym and auditorium). If we want to have a high quality yearbook, we need a high quality camera.
My Project
I am requesting one Canon PowerShot digital camera, one camera case and one digital memory card which will be used by students in our new Yearbook Club. The students will be using the camera to capture memories from basketball games, drama performances, pep rallies, school events, and so much more. The students will learn about photography and capturing great shots. We wish to instill a sense of pride and ownership in our students though the new Yearbook Club.
A new digital camera is just what we need to get this club started.
Help us to make our 2014-2015 yearbook the best one yet. Help us to keep moments from running away due poor camera quality!
