My Students

Do you remember the smell of Play-Doh and how much fun it was to create things with Play-Doh when you were small? My students are excited, first grade learners who cannot wait to learn to read and learn all about numbers. What more fun way to begin than creating numbers and letters with Play-Doh?

Sitting still is overrated and my classroom is filled with energetic first grade learners.

Even though our school is a high poverty school with limited funds for learning supplies, my students are brilliant and ready to become the next generation of world leaders. Learning should be fun, and I want to start their educational foundation in just that way!

My Project

My students will use Play-Doh to create letters, numbers, and fun things in the stories they read. The students will literally be able to recreate the stories that we read with Play-Doh. This will build reading comprehension, phonics, and critical thinking skills through creative play. Imagine my students building vocabulary words with Play-Doh, recreating scenes from a story, learning their letters, sight words, numbers, and shapes by tangibly and tactically forming them.

Creative play, critical thinking skills, and fun learning opportunities set the stage for student academic advancement.

This can be accomplished with simple Play-Doh learning activities that students will remember for a long time. What a wonderful investment!
