My Students

Never judge a book by its cover- is the saying that comes to mind when you describe my class. They are a very energetic class with a teacher to match! I am a special kind of teacher, I loop. This means I teach my students in 1st grade then teach them in 2nd grade. We are a diverse group of students!

We are a school that is based in Minnesota.

We are constantly moving, dancing and learning in room 202. I want to give my students all the resources that they need to be successful! At my school I am a looping teacher. This means that I teach my students in 1st grade and then take that same group and teach them in 2nd grade. We get to know each other very well and it is always so much fun! We are very diverse group of learners ranging in different home languages, learning types and economical backgrounds.

My Project

Imagine yourself at work all day sitting at a desk that is too high for you where you have to sit on your knees for 2 years! In our classroom we have tables that are non adjustable - they are currently at a 5th graders height. When I get my new students as 1st graders I have to provide seat cushions that help my students be able to reach the top of the table so they are able to comfortably work. These tables that I would love to have for my classroom promote community building, personal space and also they are at the appropriate height for my 1st graders and then also the next year my 2nd graders! Community building his HUGE in my classroom. These tables are round that will promote healthy relationships, conversations and exciting partner work!

This project will make a difference not only for 1 year but for 2 years in a row!

My students will be able to learn comfortably and build a community amongst each other. They will have an appropriate spot for them to learn that is also welcoming to learn with others. One of the most important parts of education is provided a safe, comfortable and appropriate learning space for EVERY child - this project will help achieve this!
