I am completely redesigning my room into multiple learning stations for the different ways that students will best learn language and stories. The materials I am requesting are the last on my list to complete my classroom transformation.
My students are both seventh and eighth grade public school ELA students.
I have four 7th grade and one 8th grade class with a pretty even split of boys to girls ratio. Our school is a Title 1 school and has a population with 37% reduced or free lunch. I have a few students that struggle with ADHD but I am creating stations where they can work and outlet their need to move around (pub table and stools to either sit or stand while working).
My Project
I am creating different stations for students to feel comfortable and participate in learning by sitting in the environment that they are most comfortable in. I already have a sofa, comfy reading chairs, single and small group desks and bookcases. Floor lamp lighting, portable writing surfaces, and bar stools are the last pieces I need to complete this major tars formation. The bar stools are to go with the pub height table I'm building to give students that are able to focus on lessons better when standing or just standing occasionally.
I have exhausted much of my personal yearly funding to create this new and transformational classroom environment.
I don't want to make the transition from traditional classroom to stationed classroom halfway. I want students to leave on Friday, and come back on Monday to a whole new world of a classroom. I already have a small army of students and parents that are going to help me make the transformation, but I am just waiting on the last pieces to set the date to make the change.
