My Students

Do you remember your first chapter book? Well, my first graders want to read their first chapter book! This is hard because so many chapter books are difficult to read.

I teach in first grade in North Carolina.

Many of my students want to read chapter books, but they end up in books that are too hard for them to read. Then these students get frustrated and stop reading as many books. These students need chapter books that are interesting and easy to read.

My Project

I have the answer - Poppleton and Mercy Watson. These characters are in two great series of chapter books. The books are interesting and have great story lines. Students will get to know these characters and love reading about them. These books are also easy enough for first graders to read.

Having these books in my classroom library will increase the reading in my class.

Having simple chapter books will encourage and provide fun reading. This will enable students to learn and grow as readers.
