My students need brain break materials that promote fitness, healthy lifestyles, and nutrition!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hicks's classroom raised $189

My Students
I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes!!! Not!!! This is what our students think is a healthy meal that they should be eating. I think they need an eye opening experience on what healthy eating really is and how to promote a healthy lifestyle.
I am a fourth grade teacher at a Title 1 school in Florida.
I have a lot of students who do not get a lot of attention outside of school. They are willing to learn and very excited about being at school! My students are bright, motivated, and have the talent to light up a room. I would love to be the teacher to provide them with the resources they need to be successful in their future. I need nutrition and wellness materials to help students become the "stars" they truly are. My students need that extra "me" time, so they feel like they are truly special.
My Project
I would like to have some wellness education activities to use as brain breaks throughout the day. I would like the clever catch ball, so that we can toss it around the room and inform students about healthy solutions. Also I would like the exercise cd and the 5-minute exercise games, so that each student will get up and move. I think it is important for students to have a break every so often. It not only helps them concentrate more, but it allows them to get out that built up energy. Students will be refreshed and refocused after having done an exercise during the brain break. As a health nut myself, I would love the opportunity to teach about nutrition and wellness in my classroom. Childhood obesity has become an epidemic and I think I can make a change here in my own classroom. Students have a choice to select what they want to eat for the school lunch. I hope I can persuade them and inform them about healthy choices for a healthy heart.
This is where we need your help!
The Title One school I work at does not have resources or funding to incorporate engaging nutritional activities in the classroom. We would love to incorporate engaging activities throughout the day in my class to get students fit. I hope to have the opportunity for students to use high quality materials and equipment when learning wellness in my class. I want the best for my stars and their futures as healthy citizens.
