My Students
The popularity of the Hunger Games books and movies demonstrates that dystopian literature is exciting for middle school students and engages them on a meaningful level. As a teacher, I hope to use this to foster a love of reading and to make them life-long learners.
I teach at one of the largest public middle schools in Kentucky.
I have 115 students that I see on a daily basis in Language Arts. These students come from a variety of economic backgrounds and a variety of reading levels. My school also has a large population of gifted students. For that reason, it is important that I have literature that can appeal to students of all levels.

My Project
For this project I have chosen high interest novels that all have a common theme so that we can discuss them as a class as they read. These books are appealing to students because they deal with social issues in a way that is engaging and entertaining. They do not want to stop reading. All of these books that I have requested are part of a series and so I hope that the students will be encouraged to continue with the series after they have been introduced to them through my class.
Your donation of dystopian novels will help to foster a love of reading in my students.
Even reluctant readers will be fascinated by these engaging stories and not want to stop reading. It will help create a love of literature that will last them a lifetime.
