McGowan's Ninjas Strike Back

My students need 13 yoga balls and bases. This will improve the focus of my ninja-like students.

My Students

My students' active brains can NOT sit still. We need an outlet for our excess energy and allow our ninja-like brains to maintain focus. Education is one of the core values in our lives. Help us find our Zen.

My honors kids are the weirdest types of kids and coincidentally they are also 6th graders, do I need I say anything more?!

Their corniness however, is paired with this unquenchable thirst for knowledge. They work really hard and place a lot of stress on themselves to reach high expectations. These were set out by their parents, teachers, school, but mostly established by themselves. We work hard on maintaining healthy habits and realizing perfection is not necessary yet, failure creates life-lessons to be learned. These habits are required for stability in today's society. These skills and habits will establish productive citizens, but these active brains can NOT sit still.

My Project

The students will use yoga balls with bases during centers, computer activities, reading for enjoyment, and during their writing compositions. It also allows our Socratic Seminars to maintain the circle which increases positive body-language during discussion, thus resulting in a decrease in misconceptions. The students will also use their yoga balls during their WOD (Work Out of the Day). The students already love to do squats during this brain break. Can you imagine their excitement when they can do squats with a yoga ball?

All 78 students will be able to activate their core while they increase their focus on our daily activities.

A few of the students will stand, sit on the comfy rug, or bounce in the yoga ball while they learn. Research also indicates it can enhance their physical fitness levels and promote an active lifestyle throughout their day. This unquenchable thirst can be hydrated with the increase blood flow to the brain resulting from an active body.
