My Students

My students live on their cheer mats. You can see them every morning at dawn--jumping, tumbling, and tossing their teammates into the air. They are true athletes who dedicate themselves to doing amazing things!

My cheerleaders come to school each day with a thirst for growth and achievement.

They all maintain a 3.0 GPA and honors citizenship, perform quarterly community service, and spend 10-20 hours a week supporting their school and community. Many of these students and their families also spend countless hours working extra jobs or fundraising to pay for the high cost of cheerleading--which can be a huge burden in our area where sometimes it is a struggle just to purchase the necessities.

My Project

With a new cheerleading mat, my students will be able to perform all of their stunts and tumbling on a full-size cheer floor. These mats will protect from catastrophic injuries in the event of a fall, protect their ankles, knees, wrists, and other body parts while jumping and tumbling, and will allow for us to take our older mats out to the track so that they can be safe stunting outside as well.

Unlike other sports, my athletes do not receive funding from their school district to purchase required safety equipment.

Football players have pads and helmets, while cheerleaders rely on mats to keep them safe. The team's current mats have been used almost daily for 9 years--and won't last another 9 seasons. Just one mat, however, costs hundreds of dollars to purchase--and a complete floor costs $5,000! Help start us on the way to a safe cheer surface with your donation today! Thank you!
