My students bring a positive attitude and a desire to learn to school with them everyday.
Every student is at a different stage in his or her journey to become a proficient reader, writer, and mathematician - some students are working hard to gain mastery of basic operations in math, while others are ready for challenging texts that will push them to infer, respond, and think critically.
My Project
The requested materials will prove invaluable for providing meaningful, targeted educational support to every learner. The iPads will be used during centers time and will allow small groups to work on building math and reading skills. iPads will also be used to provide enrichment to on- or above-level learners who can benefit from independent projects and inquiry. I envision all students using the iPad's camera and video capabilities to record and share: verbal and written explanations of a math concept/skill; short book reviews; projects that integrate the core subjects of reading and math with science and social studies; reflections on learning; and more.
The two small-group text sets will be used to provide reading instruction to students. These novels have lots of kid appeal and will allow readers at different levels to work on important skills such as comprehending and responding to text.
As I always tell my students, I see fourth grade as a stepping stone to success in middle school, high school, and college.
These resources will support students at all levels and help them master key skills.
